All-Star teams were announced live on Fox today @ noon for the July 13 game in Los Angeles (or Anaheim?). Joe Mauer took home the most votes overall, Albert Pujols was the leading vote-getter in the National League. Here's how the rosters round out:

In his final year on the ballot, Griffey, MLB's all-time leader in All-Star balloting, earned 1,070,862 votes. Griffey, who retired from baseball on June 2nd, entered the season with 48,973,314 votes, giving him a total of 50,044,176 in his 22-year Major League career. Griffey also holds the single-season record (6,079,688 votes in 1994).

• Rosters expanded to 34 players (13 pitchers, 21 position players)
• Pitchers who start Sunday before the break are ineligible
• Both teams will use the DH
• One position player will be designated for re-entry if need be due to an injury.

Thoughts:

• Stephen Stasburg didn't get in. I don't think it had anything to do with his last start against the Mets and I also don't think he deserved to make it.
• There is some internet clamoring for Miguel Olivo.
• I'm happy for 40 year-old Arthur Rhodes, making his first All-Star appearance as well as Brandon Phillips, also a Midsummer Classic newbie.
• Six Yankees make the team (42 appearances between them, Jeter 11, Rivera 11, & A-Rod 13), five Rangers, five Cardinals, five Braves, four Red Sox, three Blue Jays, and for the first time two Rays were selected to start the game.
• Andy Pettitte got snubbed, but he may replace teammate Sabathia if CC starts Sunday before the break.
• I think Roy Halladay and David Price deserve to start.
• I think all NL first basemen not named Pujols have it rough...
